For the 16th consecutive year the "24 Hours" newspaper awarded "The Worthy Bulgarians of the Year". The ceremony was held today at the Military Club in Sofia, with Fibank (First Investment Bank) being a partner of the great initiative.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Boyko Borisov presented prizes and a copy of the gold rhyton from the Panagyurishte treasure to the creators of the Vratsa Software Society Emilian Kadiiski, Tonko Vlahov and Tihomir Krastev. The three young people have stayed in their hometown and through quality education they try to give opportunity to more people from Vratsa and the region to work valuable and well paid work.

Mr. Nedelcho Nedelchev, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fibank presented the awards to junior inspector Ventsislav Spasov and senior fireman Zapryan Piperov from the town of Septemvri, who in the summer of 2017 saved ten children lost in the woods above the village of Varvara by carrying them on their backs through the turbulent river.
"It is a real honor for me to distinguish these two young men and worthy Bulgarians. Nowadays, heroism is the choice of the firefighter profession. This is a conscious choice that puts other people's life above its own", Mr. Nedelchev said.

Among the awarded persons this year was Dimitar Berbatov, who received a special award for his foundation, which for more than 10 years helped young people in Bulgaria to develop their talents and gave them a chance to share them with the world.
