In order to increase the security of card payments on the Internet and in accordance with the applicable European and national legislation in October 2020, First Investment Bank AD (Fibank, the Bank) made some changes in the methods for confirming online card payments at merchants participating in the additional security programs Mastercard IdentityCheck and Visa Secure.
What is new?
Confirmation of online payments by biometric method
This verification method is applied to customers of the MyFibank mobile application who have activated a method for identification and confirmation of online payments using biometric data.Confirmation of card payments on the Internet will be carried out using the biometric method chosen by them - fingerprint or face ID.
Introduction of an additional static 3D password to confirm online payments via SMS
This method is applied to all clients of the Bank who prefer to use the method of confirmation by password sent to SMS.
In addition to the already known method of confirmation with a dynamic 3D password, a static 3D password is added. Payment will be confirmed only by a combination of the two passwords - a static 3D password known only to you and a one-time dynamic 3D password, which you receive on your mobile phone number registered with the Bank, every time you pay online.
Initially, the new static 3D password will be sent by Fibank individually to each client on a mobile phone number registered by them with the Bank. Subsequently, each client can change the static 3D password by using their registration with My Fibank electronic banking in Settings / 3D Card Security menu, as well as to request a new one if necessary.
What's new?
For clients of MyFibank mobile application with a built-in software token, the PINt for login to the app is used as a static 3D password.
If you are not a client of My Fibank electronic banking, we offer you to make a free registration to quickly and conveniently manage your 3D passwords and take advantage of other services of the Bank.
Update of phone number to receive the 3D password
For fast and trouble-free operation of the service, it is important to update the phone number to which you will receive SMS notifications.
The update can be performed:
- At any of Bank’s offices
- by using My Fibank electronic banking for registered users.
The update in My Fibank is done from Settings / 3D Card Security menu:
- For customers with active access, the change and confirmation of the current telephone number shall be performed depending on the methods of signature and identification used.
- Clients with passive banking rights need to confirm the update of the telephone number by entering the authorization code and ID number of the ATM from a receipt for operation performed at an ATM terminal device within the last 24 hours.
How does the 3D Card Security service work?
Using the 3D Card Security service does not change the way you have paid so far.
It introduces just one more step that:
- increases the security of online payments;
- provides additional security and control.
When making payments on the Internet:
- enter your details and the details on your card;
- if the online merchant you wish to pay with participates in secure online payment programs, you will see the logos of the respective card organization Visa Secure or Mastercard IdentityCheck;
- before completing the payment, you will be required to provide additional authentication depending on the method you use by:
- using biometric data,
or - you will be asked for your static and dynamic 3D passwords,
or - using Fibank Token
- using biometric data,
Only after entering them correctly will you be able to pay with the card.
